Good Morning one and all, not had a good month, holidays don’t suit me any more, smashed my rear car window, personal problems not yet fully resolved but will be next week hopefully. And on top of all that I’ve started looking for a new larger rental property which is a time consuming and ongoing job.
But I’ve drafted a few items which will follow over the next few weeks, drafted a few more chapters of the novel, now up to over 18k words, only another 62k to go, target for publication now November or December, just in time for you to buy yourself a bit of exciting reading matter for Christmas ( well that’s my pitch). I’ve been circulating in the business community of South Yorkshire and been given some advice (some of which I will take). I’m considering joining a local publishing group called 7th wave which is based in Sheffield and may buy a domain name and develop a website as things progress.
I need to start to look for some income streams just enough to cover my publishing costs and have been advised to produce a Biographical profile to get you all interested. So that will follow shortly. As a taster of what is to come I can tell you what I’ve drafted over the past few weeks using a pencil, if I can read my writing. When people say what do you do I answer, “I’ve started writing” which is a misnomer as I , in general with many others, don’t write but type the scrpts directly onto the laptop.
The Business Club scene is very enlightening for a Fenix who has been dormant for sixteen years before arising from the ashes of a previous existance. Nearly all the business people I meet are into either developing, selling or using the most up to date technology and I am learning a lot and still not understanding much.
Cyber attacks and ways of fending them off, new computer technology, Drone technology and of course ‘ai’ all feature in my new curriculum. I need to learn about such things, which seems to be dichotomous to my interest in life in the 18th century the subject of my first novel, which I intend to publish as a paperback at great expense to me, but at a bargain price to you my loyal supporters, later in the year.
As a taster I can reveal that the action takes place from 1717 to 1767 in the border country of what is now North Derbyshire, South Yorkshire and North Nottinghamshire and includes incidents with Dick Turpin in 1734, the Scottish Invaders led by the ‘Bonnie Prince’ in 1745 and other less famous but equally realistic meetings with some rogues and vagabonds of the period. And a real life documented murder. The climax is the real life execution of my hero at Gallows Hill, Nottingham. You will be left to form your own opinion of whether justice was done.
An annex will be provided at the end of the novel to guide the reader to what is left today of that neglected period of the rich (and particularly poor) history of the area.
I do hope you will find the content interesting and give me some encouragement to live this second life to the full. Incidently, if a success any profit I aquire after expences will be donated to a Dementia charity. A disease I aim to fight off by keeping my mind fully occupied until my final breath.
Watch out for a regular stream of articles now the wheels back on. In the meantime keep healthy and may your god go with you.
