Good morning friends nice to be able to contact you again after a cold and windy winter in Cloverlawn, in the foothills of the South Pennines.
A beautiful morning here in the uk and more good news to follow.
I now have a publisher commissioned to produce my first novel by thge end of May, details below.
One Day in May – A novel by Keith Wood
The Book is writ and the Publisher Commissioned. It will be published by the end of May
One Day in May is my first Novel, it is a poignant but humane story of the real life of a lad born illegitimate, with an affliction in 18th Century Derbyshire just outside my native county. It is a biographical story of Social Justice or lack of it. The kind of justice experienced by most of our ancestors, if like me you are a commoner. This is the probable real life of a nobody, written after extensive research from sources hidden in the dust of time until now, as most of our personal lives as commoners will be. But this story of a real person who survived for 52 years roaming the borderlands of Derbyshire, Nottinghamshire and South Yorkshire enjoying it’s natural beauty and experiencing many interesting incidents along the way, is brought back to life in 2025 by the author, a man of mystery who has risen from the Ashes. This is a commentary on a typical 18th Century life which would have been experienced in this part of England.
This is not a gruesome murder story but a realistic snapshot of the life of our ancestors and you the readers are left to consider whether justice was really served. Poor Rob? or did he get what he deserved? But for the grace of your God go I.
It may make you laugh and may make you cry or at least that's the emotions I experienced whilst writing it. The first four versions have been consigned to the bin so that you can only enjoy the fifth and final, honed edition. It is now with my publishers and designers before going to the printers. Any profits will now be donated to local charities.
‘One Day in May’ the story of a commoner will appear in paperback form in May 2025, reasonably priced. It will be available on line directly from the Author, contact keith@yorkshirefenix.co.uk to book an author signed numbered first edition (no deposit required) or call Keith in the UK on 07480 119422 and be one of the select 500 to receive this limited edition.
The Second Novel, 'Call me Largo Vice' will shortly follow. A tale of two 18th Century double agents working for King George and Bonnie Prince Charlie at the same time but which is which? Advance pre-publication orders welcomed and rewarded with special acknowledgement in the novel. Go on you know you’d like to see your name in print as a supporter of a starving old writer.
Until the next time my friends, my best wishes go out to you wherever you are in the world.
